Rediscovering Wonder in the Glory of Jesus

The Fascination of Christ is more than a book I am writing. In many ways, it is a lifelong project, a living record of my pursuit of proximity with God and a deeper knowledge of who He is. But even more importantly, it is the story of something far greater: His pursuit of us.

I am not writing from a place of having arrived. I am writing as one who is still beholding, still discovering, and still finding that there is always more of God to know, more beauty to see, and more wonder to uncover. These pages are simply an invitation into that discovery, a collection of truths found in the Word and revealed in the life of Christ that have stopped me in my tracks, awakened something within me, and caused me to look again.

My hope is that they do the same for you, that your heart becomes more alive to the staggering reality of who God is, who you were created to be, and what it means that He has placed eternity within your heart. You were made for more than simply moving through the routines of this life. You were made to know God, to be known by Him, and to live fascinated by the One who is life itself.

And at the center of it all is our answer.... Jesus, the image of the invisible God.

The Greek word translated for “image” is εἰκών (eikōn), meaning likeness or exact representation. Jesus is not merely someone who resembles God. He is the visible revelation and manifestation of the God who is invisible.

In other words: If you want to know what God is like, look at Jesus.

Jesus is not merely a figure to study, a doctrine to understand, or a name to become familiar with. He is absolutely exhilarating. He is life itself. He is the living Word.

And John 1:1 establishes who “the Word” is:

Then John 1:14 delivers the staggering revelation:

The invisible God made visible.

The more I discover Him, the more fascinated I become.

That is the heart behind this book.

It is an invitation to look again.

If Jesus has become familiar to you, look again.

If your faith has become routine, look again.

If you feel stuck in life, complacent, weary, or disconnected from God, look again.

There is more to see.

My prayer is not simply that you finish this book knowing more about Jesus. My prayer is that something awakens within you, that your spirit comes alive with wonder, your heart burns again, and you find yourself wanting to draw nearer to Him.

Because perhaps what we need most is not something new.

Perhaps, what we need most is to look again at the One who has been there all along.

Jesus Christ, the fascination of eternity.

There are moments when the Spirit of God moves not by adding something new, but by restoring what has been forgotten.

Light shines upon truths that have grown dim and breathes fresh life into what has become familiar. The Holy Spirit reveals the beauty of Christ, illuminating what has long been hidden in plain sight, awakening our hearts to behold Him with fresh wonder and deeper affection, replacing the boredom of familiarity with the fascination of His inexhaustible glory.

I'm here to share that Jesus has never been boring; only our vision of Him has grown dim. The Holy Spirit does not invent a new revelation but unveils the eternal One who has been there all along, waiting to captivate our hearts once again. The pages ahead are an invitation to an encounter. An encounter that rekindles awe and affection. An encounter that rekindles enduring zeal.

This book is for those who believe or want to believe but feel numb. For those who are weary of religious noise, void of true transformation. For those stuck in addictions, craving authentic excitement. For those who miss being astonished and crave genuine exhilaration. And for those doing all the “right things,” yet sensing something quietly missing within.

The Fascination of Christ is for those who suspect that God is far more beautiful than they have been told and desire to experience more.

As A.W. Tozer once said, “What comes into our minds when we think about God is the most important thing about us.” The pages ahead are for those curious to take another look, those who desire to know God more deeply.

As your eyes behold His glory, what was once cold begins to burn, fascination gives rise to devotion, and for those who truly believe, the Holy Spirit will kindle within you a holy zeal that cannot be contained.

An ember grows. A fire rekindles. A breath returns.

And suddenly, what once felt distant becomes alive again.

We are living in such a moment.

Across the earth, the Holy Spirit is awakening fascination and love for Jesus, not through novelty, spectacle, or noise, but through the quiet unveiling of His excellencies. Not a different Christ. Not a rebranded Christ. But the Christ who is simply seen again.

And yet, in much of Western Contemporary Christianity and the world, Jesus has become far too familiar.

Somewhere along the way, something was diminished.

And that something was Wonder, that something was Fascination. It wasn't diminished because we stopped believing. It was diminished because we assumed we already knew.

But Jesus is not a concept to be conquered. He is not a doctrine to be completed or a lesson to be exhausted. He isn't a box to be checked before we move on to the "grander desires of life". This Jesus IS desire itself. Every longing that stirs within the human heart finds its answer in Jesus Christ. He is not merely One who satisfies our desires; He is the object for which every righteous desire was created. Every search for love is a search for Him. Every pursuit of truth points to Him. Every hunger for justice, every thirst for peace, every longing for home, beauty, belonging, and eternal life converges in His glorious Person.

The nations may seek prosperity, power, wisdom, or peace, yet beneath every pursuit lies a deeper cry that only Christ can answer. He is the Desire of the nations, the Treasure hidden in the field, the Pearl of great price, the Bread of Life, the Living Water, the Bright and Morning Star. He is the sum of every holy affection and the fulfillment of every redeemed desire.

To behold Christ is to discover that every lesser joy was only a shadow cast by His light. In Him the restless heart finds rest, the empty soul is filled, and the deepest longing of mankind is finally brought home.

As Augustine of Hippo wrote:

“Our hearts are restless until they rest in Thee.”

A healthy awe of the glory of God found in the person of Jesus Christ will actually cause one to tremble. Tremble with a freshly energized infilling of life, the light of life, where living fully alive becomes the new normal, fully alive living in the presence of life itself.

When familiarity replaces reverence, the heart ceases to tremble. The eyes stop widening. And we stop beholding. And when we stop beholding, we stop becoming.

Though theology matters deeply, this book is not an attempt to offer new theology. It is not a correction as much as a reorientation. An invitation to slow down, to look again, to behold… not casually, not hurriedly, but carefully and attentively.

Think wonder over answers. Captivation over normality. Reverence over familiarity.

Not because we need a newer version of Jesus, but because we need to see again the Jesus who is.

Strength that kneels,
authority that washes feet,
truth that absorbs violence rather than returning it,
and love that covers shame and gives us a brand-new name.

And so, the most important question is presented.

Do You Really Know Him?

I grew up surrounded by the language of religion and of Christianity. I knew the stories. I knew the verses. I knew the vocabulary. I knew the rhythms of faith. I knew what I now call Subscription Jesus which is familiar, manageable, even able to be "put on pause" for my own personal counterfeit “benefit” at any given time.

But when I was fifteen, someone asked me a question that pierced through all that familiarity:

The question was followed by a clarification that exposed the difference between head knowledge and the deep KNOWING:

In that moment, I realized I had information about him without surrender, familiarity without allegiance. I knew of Him, but I did not know Him as Lord. I did not know Him as the Master who calls us “friend,” the Good Shepherd who leads with quiet strength exercised in gentleness.

The primary Greek word for KNOWING is "Ginosko". "Ginosko" speaks not of information, but of encounter. Not of observation, but of participation. It is the language of lived experience, of knowledge formed through relationship.

"Ginosko" is the word Scripture uses when it speaks of knowing God, not merely knowing about Him, but knowing Him in the depths of intimacy, presence, and communion.

This is the journey we will embark upon in the pages ahead. A journey away from "Oida" knowledge, being the knowledge of facts, concepts, and mental agreement, and toward the truer knowledge that can only be born through encounter.

A knowledge that is not held in the mind alone, but carried in the heart, shaped by nearness, and forged through experience. This is the knowing that comes from walking with God, personal, intimate, and alive.

Once we have this revelation of Christ and his love for us, our heart transforms, the first commandments are restored in the realm of our souls to love him back and love our neighbor. We actually begin to reflect his divine nature into the earth, and we begin to live fully alive again, beckoning Jesus to come even closer to receive his full reward, which is us. We are that reward, the people he demonstrated his resurrection love for on the Cross of Calvary. The ones he calls the “joy” of his suffering.

I have since come to believe something unavoidable:

When you truly see Him, when you truly know Him, the only fitting response is to bow. To yield. To enthrone Him as Lord of all. The same Lord of all that calls us “friends”.

Because that is who He truly is. This book is written from that conviction.

The invitation of this book is to behold Him again. The One who spoke the stars into existence is the same Jesus who walked among men, gave His life upon the cross, and now calls us to build our lives upon Him. The more clearly we see who He truly is, the deeper our fascination will become.

There are mysteries awaiting.
There is majesty unfolding.
There is an Eternal God who has promised that if we seek Him, we will surely find Him.

Before anything else is said, we must ask for sight.

An Invitation to Behold

This is the wonder that is not manufactured. The wonder that is remembered. The wonder that is discovered.

In these pages, we will behold the attributes and divine nature of Christ, which has been termed Christology, His eternal glory revealed through prophecy fulfilled and miracles performed. We will contrast the true fascination of Jesus with the counterfeit fascinations of the age, lifting our eyes beyond imitation to the authentic radiance of God Himself. We will enter the beauty-realm of the throne room, explore the riches of Scripture through careful Greek and Hebrew study called hermeneutics, and trace the bridal paradigm woven through redemption’s story. We will consider the Kingdom of God, the mystery of salvation, and the unveiling of further depths surrounding Christ within us, the hope of glory.

Will you be the one to embark on this journey of rediscovering wonder in the fascination of Christ? A journey into the life of the most exciting life there ever was, The Way, The Truth, and The LIFE itself.

Prepare for Encounter. For as deeply as we long to see and know Him, this is His desire as well, to be seen and deeply known by the ones He loves…..YOU.

This is your invitation to sit at his feet. This is your invitation to gaze upon the One who is altogether lovely.
